The City of Lincoln’s landfill renewable natural gas (RNG) initiative is moving forward through a partnership originally awarded to Sparq Renewables, which has selected Viridi to deliver the RNG facility that will convert landfill methane into pipeline-quality, low-carbon natural gas.
ASSET HIGHLIGHTS
- This 3,000 SCFM RNG facility at the City’s Bluff Road Landfill will convert landfill methane into pipeline-quality, low-carbon renewable natural gas.
- RNG will be injected into the local pipeline network via Black Hills Energy Systems network, creating local energy benefits and improving regional fuel carbon intensity.
- This project will support emissions reductions through methane capture and upgrading of methane that would otherwise be flared or released—turning an organic waste stream into a renewable energy resource.
- Delivers meaningful local-scale energy production with a clear, community-relevant benefit with an equivalent energy output to heating 12,148 homes annually
